This is a companion to "Chairman vs. Chief."
Both are excerpts from an upcoming 9500Liberty special presentation called "9500Liberty: July 2008 Update."
Annabel Park and I have conducted hours of interviews with county officials to investigate the truth about the changes made to the controversial immigration policy on April 29th. We are sharing them to help provide much needed clarity after a period of confused and conflicting news reports, including the Washington Post headline of June 4th, saying PWC has "broadened citizenship checks," compounded by an unfortunate photo caption that attributed Chairman Corey Stewart's words to Police Chief Charlie Deane.
Oh the good old days, when Gospel Greg and Chief Deane were still buddies. Then Gospel Greg had a run in with one of Deane's officers and their relationship went sour. Vigilantes and police chief's are not a match made in heaven anyway.

Greg's attack on Chief Deane will go down in history as the most despicable politically motivated attack in the history of this county. Not only because it was false, and relied entirely on bigotry, ignorance, and blind partisanship, but also because the target was, by far, the most revered public servant in the greater DC metro area. It was the last straw. Even those who sympathized with the anti-immigrant lobby that infected our community turned their back on Greg with this one.
