hi do you have the rear shock monroe part number too?

@feetnycam2 - Same number, just shorten the rod by about an 1-1/2".

why do I have to remove the outer cylinder? Did you remove anything else?

You are installing the shock upside down from the normal VW installation, plus the outer tube would be a catch can for all kinds of debris, etc...

See above. VW shocks are still available and inexpensive. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep the little beasty on the road & track.
orignal fiat parts are hard to get? if it works it works
