Here I am on alto saxophone together with the North Shore Youth Symphonic Wind Band performing Disney at The Movies, an entertaining medley that includes Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, Never Smile At A Crocodile, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Bare Necessities, Under the Sea, Beauty and the Beast, Be Our Guest, Friend Like Me, A Whole New World, This Land, Circle of Life, Cant You Feel The Love Tonight, Colors of the Wind. This was performed at Northcote, the closest thing you can get to Chinatown in Auckland. Our band was awarded 11 golds and 8 silvers at the 2008 New Zealand Concert Band Association National Music Festival in Wellington in August 2008.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I'm thinking of purchasing this piece for our band and couldn't find a recording anywhere even from the publisher. Good job too!

  • Disney at the Movies is real fun. Getting this piece would be worthwhile

    Glad you enjoyed the Video.

  • I was in NSYSWB when we first heard the piece played by a band from Sydney one year at Nationals - we were so stoked Mr L purchased it for the band - this was always a fave of mine to play. Played at that Northcote location a number of times too - sounds like you were missing flute numbers that day!

  • Come on saxophones! Bars 14 and 50, please.

  • Whoever did the Beauty and the Beast solo did an amazing job. Trumpets need a little practice--I only heard one that was actually good.

  • I must say it sounds slightly better with a larger wind band playing it but real good job considering the size of the band! I am playing bass trombone in this in the christmas concert i have coming up with the halle youth orchestra! Nice trombone playing btw!

  • my band is gonna play that at Disney and i also play alto sax but this really helps it makes a difference!

  • just a few tips.

1.Articulation-in zip-a-dee-doo-dah you guys slurred a few times when you should have staccato

2.posture-some of you were either laid back or slouched forward. the best sound comes with a straight back.

3.tempo changes and tone-it was good up till never smile at a crocadile. you seemed to partially fall apart.

4.dynamics-in a band of this size it isnt hard to overpower eachother so you need to listen for the melody and harmony.

other than that you did perfectly.

  • I'm playing this song this year! and I play the alto sax Too!

  • I just got done playing this in my district band concert! Lol!

  • Haha nice! we are playing this for a concert also, im 1st chair in out Hs band trombone section, and im in 8th grade(Jr. High) and i love this song!!!

  • last march my h.s. got to prefrom this song in disneyland :)
