Here's Carnegie Mellon's 2007 production of Pippin, staged at their Scotch'n'soda series at the spring carnival.

i'm impressed no one knocked themselves unconscious with the shovel...

  • Great voice but what lyrics are these? I know this show inside and out and I've never heard of these? Where did they come from? lol.

  • Honestly, you didn't take it *that* much faster than the original production. I'm sure you saw the Canadian revival DVD - it's close to this fast, and that production used the same conductor as the original (and recreated Fosse's direction). Too bad at this speed the band/accompanist couldn't play the score - some of the runs have been left out.

  • This isn't the drama school's production. This is an extra curriculer theatre organization at cmu that's mainly composed of english and voice majors.

  • oh i c. thanks :)

  • Scotch and Soda shows are not done by the musical theater department. Any CMU student can audition and perform in Scotch and Soda shows.

  • Is this really cmu musical theater? because this isnt what i thought of when i thought carnegie mellon

  • Yeah, we sped up most of the songs, but this was one I *demanded* be turned into an uptempo. It makes the scene far more exciting especially since no other scene in the show is so long. I feel like the song otherwise isn't as enjoyable as it was in the 70s.

  • I did Pippin 2 years ago and while we were doing the show they were suposed to start licising the "new" script of Pippin from the revival tour. Are these lyrics sung in Extraordinary the lyrics that were written in the script or were they just taken from the movie? Oh by the way great performance. I like how the songs in this production were more up-tempo than they should be. Pippin has a great voice.

  • That was fantastic!

  • Only the floor....surprisingly
