There really is a purpose or it. Drill is designed to build unit cohesion, provide formations and movements that can be mimicked in a combat environment and instill discipline in junior Marines. They've been doing this stuff since the early days at 8th and I...because it works. It's not just senseless entertainment.

Does a soldier need to apply to be in the silent drill team? Do he/she need to meet specific qualifications?  How many hours do they spend perfecting the uniform? How many hours do they practice?

@dyejc If you were really a Marine CSM, you would have responded to my comment in a nicer tone. I respect Marines as I have friends in there, but despise it when I hear Marines getting all cocky and, shit. I pay my respect to those who serve, but I do not tolorate when a supposedly retired service men or active, believes he is the cream of the cake. In the end we are all fighting 1 enemy, our enemy. We can joke and trash talk each other but not for humiliation, but as a form of stress relieve.

@dyejc Stop acting tough pussy. Marines are "elite" in the terms of "front-line" infantry service men. Any Airboure, SEAL, Green beret, DELTA, RANGER, could kick a Marines ass single handedly. I was calling the dick heads that were like you and, kept saying Marines are the best "cock-shinners".
