When there's only one person around in a situation, they're much more likely to lend assistance to people in need, whether it's to help pick up something they're dropped or something more important like warn them they're about to step into traffic, etc.

When there's a group of people, though, no one acts. They all expect someone else will do it, so no one volunteers or pauses.

  • WTF!? I would have helped straight away

  • @lord0x1 No. You are right. They aren't the same everywhere. I blame social indoctrination, the school system, and a culture of everyone should "mind their own business" as reason for people not wanting to help. Everyone is taught since they are little that have a better chance of "surviving" (at least in western cultures), if leave problems to the authorities and stay out of trouble themselves. What's even sadder is those people didn't even want to call for help. This is all by design.

  • @ below:oops wrong video

  • Why do some people seem to think it is so simple? For example she could have just been a little brat that was disobeying her dad (yeah she did say 'you're not my dad', but you couldn't always hear her). And if it was me I would rather call the police (which could take some time) rather than get physically involved, after all he is a pretty big fellow...

  • I know at the last point where the man dressed in the right clothes was rescued straight away, but how can they know for sure if it was because of that or if it was just different people. The experiment would need to be done over and over to make a conclusion.

  • Damn,

  • Greetings chemlin, just wanted to point out that things arent the same everywhere, iam from lebanon, and things are pretty much different here,in a situation lie this people instantly rush for help, lately we had a car accident, and within a minute it was very crowded with people offering help before even the police knew about it,anyway,I really love your work and waiting for your coming series, peace :).

  • WHAT A FREEKIN GREAT IDEA TO STUDY!

    love it

  • @abdulduule this is so typical of all societies. go to pakistan, a he/she (someone who is the minority and vumnerable in the society) is beaten up and ppl follow in a crowd only to watch. no-one, not a single person stopped it.

if ppl followed the main fundamentals of their, be it christianity, judaism or islam, they'd help someone in need of it.

  • try islam
