  • I have this same exact problem with my MB. I called applecare protection, and they told me the battery was at the end of it's life, since it's over 300 cycles. So I need to buy a battery myself for $129! I've only had it for a year. Is apple telling me that if I'm a heavy laptop user, I need to buy a new battery every year? That's insane. The battery is supposed to be at 80% capacity after 300 cycles, not dead. It's a hardware problem. Apple needs to take some responsibility.

  • Tell me about it. In this particular case the charge cycles had not even exceeded 30. Yet, Apple refused to replace her battery. I'm the one who persuaded her to purchase a 1st generation MacBook Pro so I felt kind of bad for her. She refuses to buy a new battery from Apple, so she now connects her MacBook Pro to AC power.

  • hahah this foo is eating king taco...

that battery problem is nothing, mine is fully expanded and was about to blow up.. i took it off and just using power cord..

idk if the procare will warrant it or i will have to buy a new one.. this is BS

  • i have this problem with my mbp now. i even think this is what caused my harddisk to crash just recently, because everything blacked out after about 5 minutes and the damn thing wouldn't start up after that. apple store replaced my harddisk, but i'm wondering if they'll do the same for my battery... it's less than a year old and i've hardly even unplugged my computer. i guess i should've complained a long time ago..

  • I got my problem fixed! After the horrible customer service through applecare protection care phone call, I brought it to an apple store. But this time I gave them very few details. I just told them that it stopped working, the technician took the computer and replaced the battery on apple, and it works great so far. I shouldn't have to be forced to buy a battery just depending upon the apple technician's mood. Good luck with your MBP.

  • the battery should show the charge with LEDs for longer (a few seconds) looks like its the battery that is screwed. take it to ur local apple store, they're always great help, excellent warranty service!

  • have you tried replacing the battery? maybe it's defective.

  • its clear that you either have a faulty bettery or prob. with computer hardware. Take it back , apple will fix or replace without any hassles.
