So in our final full day in Rome, we decided to go to the Spanish Steps. On our first visit a few years back, we visited them, but it wasn't as impressive as 'advertised' in the tourist books. As well as that, I was always intrigued by the infamous view from the road above the steps. It's shown in many films based in Rome, and really it's a shame that we didn't come back at sunset, as that's the view I always remember from Angels & Demons.
We had also been told of the Villa Borghese gardens, which were a 5-10 minute walk from the top of the Spanish Steps. Unfortunately I didn't take much of the gardens itself, but they were pretty amazing, especially from being in the middle of Rome, and are definitely well worth the visit.
We then walked in the other direction of the Gardens, from the top of the Steps, down through the streets until we arrived at the road leading to the Colosseum. We didn't spend too much time at the Colosseum itself, as, like with the Vatican Museums, we had already been inside in a previous trip. If you've seen pictures of it's inside you can tell that it's a one time thing. I also had to pee real bad, so we were strolling quite rapidly back to the hotel.
The view of the Forum isn't really justifiable to that of the full thing. I only captured the 'outskirts' from the road leading to the Colosseum. Again, we had been in them before, and didn't feel the need to pay to walk through them again.
