A studio take of the famed Move and later ELO song, this is from the remaster of the Message From The Country album.
Not much else to say really...I did enjoy the somewhat lengthy booklet included with the CD. Did you know the original title for this song was "Look Out Baby, There's A Plane Comin'"? You can hear Roy say that line right near the end of the song!

Jeff says he kind of prefers the Move's version of "Do Ya" than the later ELO remake. I agree with Jeff

Absolutely better than the ELO version! It was not written to be an ELO tune. It is a MOVE tune.
Not to mention that ELO dropped the fantastic bridge section.
Anyway, Lynne had the right to do what he wanted with it I guess. But it is a Lynne/Wood tune.
That's all I have to say about it. Good-bye.

When I listen to "Do Ya", I have half an inkling that Jeff was inspired by Badfinger's "No Matter What". They sound kind-of similar, probably the best post-Beatles British examples of Power Pop that Big Star and The Raspberries were championing in America.

More like a precursor to "More Than A Feeling"... According to Wikipedia, The Move recorded this song on December 19th, 1971, and "Loaded " was released in 1970. Also, The Velvet Underground was performing "Sweet Jane" in 1969.
