Youssef Biaz: Poetry Out Loud Champion

Youssef Biaz is a senior at Auburn High School and a two time Alabama State Champion in the Poetry Out Loud Competition. POL is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and open to high schools all over the country. Youssef found out about the program through his AP English teacher, Davis Thompson. As the Alabama Champion, Youssef and his sponsor, Mr. Thompson, travel to Washington D.C. for the National Competition. Youssef has chosen three poems to recite from the Poetry Out Loud anthology. Winners of the national competition not only win prize money for themselves, but they also win money for their schools to buy poetry with.
