  • Yeah I ran away from my abusive mother when I was 14 leaving my little brother and sister at home. I ended up in a shelter where I was told I was too old for foster care and I should go home. No one believed me about my mum. I wasn't sure if God was listening but I prayed and asked that my brother, sister and I all get fostered by a nice Christian family. And God listened He answered my prayer

  • You are buying "gold refined by fire." Good job! Just curious, but, are you left-handed? You seem to have the eye movements of someone who is left-handed.

  • To be quite honest, I don't find this story having the capacity to greatly impact my lack of belief on the supernatural.

However, I must also so say how much my heart went out to you, brother.

To go through that...I can't even imagine...and if I tried, I doubt I could even remotely do your strife justice.

  • You have a powerful testimony, I think you are an eccelant person and am glad you are turning what heppened to you into something that can help people. Thank you for letting us know of your stuggle.

  • I agree it does take an outsider's perspective. Well I am just going to leave it at that. Agree to disagree maybe soon you will find out that having a relationship with God doesn't with hold you from enjoying the delights of your senses. Just because it feels good doesnt mean that it is rights.

  • Well, family, friends, food, and sex are all very good things to seek security in. They're all part of the world, and it's a glorious and beautiful world even without a god (more so, I would say, as it leaves us free to enjoy the delights of our senses without fear). It's true that I have no clue how it was for him, but I don't believe that the only way to get over adversity is to seek God. And I don't have a personal relationship with God, but sometimes it takes an outsider's perspective.

  • So if he is seeking security in in religion. who else should he seek security in? He accepted God into his life not that it was by force. Its a difference between religion and having a personal relationship with God. No offense but, do you have one? How about you ask yourself the same question if you were in his shoes? Who or what would you seek security in? Your family, friends, food, sex. etc You really can't analyze peoples relationship with God until your truly have your own.

  • Jezuzfreek... I don't mean this to be hateful or condescending... but perhaps you seek security in relgion, to fill the inner void caused by abuse. Having such a terrible father figure must have been traumatic, and perhaps that's why you believe in a "heavenly Father" (the phrase you use to describe God). I'm not Freud or anything, but perhaps it's your way of escape. And perhaps your father and foster family forcing you to be obedient are why you submit to religion. I don't mean to be rude...

  • Now I understand why all the insults just slide off your back. You learned a lot from your adversities despite all the odds because God got you through it all. Good testimony!

  • "I just want to hear _your_ answer."
