I took my speculating comments off after a friend did some reaserch and found this guy to be a friend of one of those houses, and was filmed a years ago.
Hey Don, I must have taken over for you. The dogs were always ready to hike, but wouldn't go unless a human was up for the trip. Sometimes I would have 3 or 4 dogs in tow, and some even followed me to the top of Mt. Lukens! I hear that 2 houses on La Paloma Rd have survived.
Dexter i see your point,i see the vid & notice he pans on the Porsche inside people's properties..weird..HOWEVER the fire came from La Canada Flintridge where it started, look @ a map and u'll C the fire go straight UP & this area, BIG T is
right behind, or NORTH from LC so it passed it's way through this street which is narrow, full of all shrubbery and full of JUNK & fire wood etc..the sheriff came twice to warn all to leave & they did except 4 2 who played hero & got burned 3rd degree all over
It's been 10 years since I lived on La Paloma. I lived there for 6 years. Ernie's house is gone and so, I'm sure, is Carmella's...where I used to live. In the time I was there I was the only one that walked far up the canyon regularly...dogs in tow. I was there so often it felt like my own backyard. It hurts to see it go away...so many memories!
I was lucky enough to live up here for 8 years. The cabin I lived in (which was on La Paloma) is now gone. I walked this road almost everyday, and all these people were really nice folks. It was like living in a very friendly small town. The Forest Service were the bad guys, and didn't like having all these folks enjoying such a special place. Thanks for the vid.
All evacuated safely? Anyone out there watching this live on or near La Paloma? Thank you for filming this! Where have residents gone? to evac center or to friends' houses? Have not been able to locate friends who lived on La Paloma...
