Lyrics-

Peter pumpkinhead came to town
Spreading wisdom and cash around
Fed the starving and housed the poor
Showed the vatican what golds for
But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for peter pumpkin
Wholl pray for peter pumpkinhead?
Oh my!
Peter pumpkinhead pulled them all
Emptied churches and shopping malls
Where he spoke, it would raise the roof
Peter pumpkinhead told the truth
But he made too many enemies...
Peter pumpkinhead put to shame
Governments who would slur his name
Plots and sex scandals failed outright
Peter merely said
Any kind of love is alright
But he made too many enemies...
Peter pumpkinhead was too good
Had him nailed to a chunk of wood
He died grinning on live tv
Hanging there he looked a lot like you
And an awful lot like me!
But he made too many enemies...
Hooray for peter pumpkin
Wholl pray for peter pumpkin
Hooray for peter pumpkinhead
Oh my oh my oh!
Doesnt it make you want to cry oh?

  • Nice tune, so this is the remake to the Crash Test Dummies version?

  • @seitch2 It's actually the original song. The Crash Test Dummies covered it.

  • Never mind. found it. Usually when you say with lyrics it is on the video screen not on the side.

  • I know, but it's a lot of work and I have too much going on right now to have that kind of time. Thanks for watching.

  • This song is just so good.

Jesus, JFK, John Lennon, the list is long....

    I now quote Bob Marley:....

"How long shal they kill our prophets while we stand aside and look?"

Pop can be genius.... XTC is the proof

  • excellently put.

  • @seitch2 haha...no...:)...x

  • Hate to say I like the Crash Test Dummies one better... Please don't flame me...

  • This song is NOT about JFK, who wasn't the saintly figure depicted in the song by several hundred miles! It's a song about how anyone who really speaks the truth and works for the common good of all is attacked and destroyed by those in power. I always thought it was unfortunate that the director of the original video used JFK-inspired imagery.

  • @seitch2 *facepalm* XTC is the best band of the last 30 years, hands down!

  • @hyrulianshinobi333 I see it as Dwight, Jim, Michael and Ryan from "The Office"

  • RAFFA DEMEN...KIRAIN GANG MOTOR ASAL BANDUNG HEHHEH

  • I love this song, much much better than Crash Test Dummies cover version.

  • Wonderful band, wonderful song. I remember Andy Partridge declaring his atheism on tv during the crazy ''Dear God'' controversy. If the band had ever become wildly popular in the US,he'd probably have been lynched for his views. Always hated the cover by the stupid ''Crash Test Dummies,'' a Canadian band I always,as a Canadian, distance myself from. A complex song about JFK and related attitudes about charisma, religion and shattered hope. The Dummies did their best to mess it up.

  • I like the drums and base on this one, but I like the vocals/brad robert undertones, guitar and harmonica with the dummies. Mash em up somehow lol. And seeing how the dummies are huge fans of XTC, I don't get my panties in a twist over a song. They're both awesome.

  • the picture reminds me of michael, dwight, jim, and ryan from "The Office"
