The NOI is not true Islam, wallahi. Elijah Muhammad was not a messenger of God and the organization taught some really ridiculous thing like God came in the body of a man. My God cannot be encapsulated by human features. And they don't cover as Muslim women are supposed to. I just don't have respect for NOI "Muslims" because they make all of us REAL Black Muslims look bad. In the US we sunni Muslims get called "bean pie" Muslims b/c of the NOI and real Muslims don't take us serious, b/c of NOI.

Islam means peace; not just words, but our actions, and the way that we relate with others.

Islam dignifies; it teaches us how to conduct ourselves with dignity, grace and patience. Eg, as Muslims, we don't call ourselves or others out of our names and NEVER, EVER refer to ANY female as 'hoe' or 'tramp'!!!

It's so easy for us to 'tear down' but it is time for us to 'build up' ourselves and one another up in order for each of us to be worthy of the Grace of God.

Thank you for your comments... Allah states in the Quran the righteous walk the earth in humility. Making assumptions about others' expression of Islam generally leads us into conflict. Asking questions; Do you follow the Quran? Prophet Muhammad? The Sunnah? Just by asking questions, you may find we have more in common than we do in conflict...

In every society or community, men and women must respect societal boundaries, regardless of what they perceive or encounter. Otherwise they should face consequences. It is as simple as that. Women must exist on this planet alongside men. and women should not have to completely cloak their identities in order to receive respect from the men in their communities. Period.

the garment doesn't help anything. Women all over the world wear veils and hair covers, and they are still being raped and abused. Children wearing full body covers are still being raped brutally. The garment is another tactic of control by men. People need to wake up.

@basimaNislam The nation of Islam is Islam but with different twist it is the history of black people which has taken its slant on Islam. Our history is not one to be ignored and has influenced the practice of Islam, Shiekh's from Arabia dont really understand the jihad of the Black Muslims so we have our own sheikhs who can guide us to retrain our faith before we join mainstream.
