To replace a damaged LCD (AMOLED) or Touch screen (Digitizer) you'll need:

A T6 Torx star type screwdriver. (search for torx on Maplin or Amazon)
A small bladed screwdriver, plastic knife and maybe some tweezers to grab the screws.

If you need to replace the touch screen (digitizer) I recommend you get one that comes already in a frame.
If you get one without the frame, you'll need to carefully remove the damaged screen and then glue the new one back in.

I found the middle 'MENU' button didn't work after doing this.
If pressing the 'menu' key brings up the 'Unlock' icon while the screen lock is active you know the buttons working OK.
After connecting to Ovi Suite it was working fine again.
If you still have trouble, try updating or re-installing the firmware using Ovi Suite.
The same thing happens after repairing the Nokia N8

Parts are very easy to find online.

Doing this will void any warranty.
Please rate&sub and I'll do my best to put some more on here...

  • My touch screen stopped working, everything else worked fine, so I bought a new digitizer online and followed your guide. The touch screen still does not work. Any Idea's on what else it could be?

  • @GeekyBoganGamer It could be a faulty new digitizer as a few people have had this, but try updating or re flashing the firmware first. If another digitizer doesn't work then it might be the end of its life :-(

  • @LE55ONS Yeah Im going to get in touch with the supplier. Its the first touch digitizer Ive replaced, Ive done hundreds of screens but this is all new. The buttons on the side all did not work before I replaced the digitizer either but worked once I replaced it. So once I did the replacement I was able to do the 3 finger hard reset which should have flashed the firmware. Still nothing.... Ive only had this for 6 months too.

  • Thank you !!! You're the MASTER !

  • This video is really awesome and very helpful,,, Its easier to repair our phones ourselves rather than shell out huge bucks in the service centers!!!

    Hats off to you man!!!!!

  • @al3x277 Sounds like you might need to re-flow the solder joints on the micro usb socket. You'll need a very fine soldering iron and a steady hand. Try taking the motherboard to a local repair shop, I'm sure they wouldn't charge much to solder it for you....

  • Hey man I need help ... I used your video as reference to get to the motherboard and see why my usb doesn't work , after i put it back together it worked for a while (failed to fix the usb ofc) until battery ran out . Now it doesn't want to charge in any way and I have no way to turn it back on .
