As someone who did her doctoral dissertation on Britten's On This Island, it is indeed a song cycle. A song cycle does not have to have a a "storyline." It has to have a commonality, in this case, poetry by W.H. Auden. Also, this was composed in 1937, (his first song cycle) so unless you are talking "post WWI" literature (and I doubt it), then this does not qualify as post world war literature.

According to my understanding of a cycle, it would have to tell a cohesive "story". Otherwise it is a grouping or "song set". I could be mistaken but I believe there has to be a forward storyline to qualify as a "cycle". I realize it's irrelevant whether or not it's a cycle in reference to her performance, but that's just where I'm coming from.
As to the interp, I've always appreciated a more subtle interpretation of Britten's post world war literature. Comes off more honest.

This is a lovely voice, but seemingly unmarked breathing.

i generally like it but could do with less aspiration seperating the notes of the melismas

1. Not a cycle.
2. I agree, great set of songs
3. I could do with a little less melodrama and a little more concerted interpretation.
4. She does have a lovely voice though.

I am doing this cycle this year, and I find this to be an excellent presentation! Very nice voice and expression!
Finally a quality Britten cycle on YouTube, both voice and presentation.
