Singers might envy you for your artistic skill in painting, though they have been lucky enough to get a great singing voice. They might desire to paint. Also, I find music is helpful, but I find that nothing makes me feel the way drawing does. It's very euphoric.

TOTALLY agree with the music thing. As i make a living from my art i still have to produce even if im not "in the mood" and good music can really light my creative spark some days.

when you get a block and don't feel like painting i think its a good idea to not force yourself to paint, but to focus on something else which interests you like perhaps making music or something
i've stopped painting completely for months at a time and i always feel afterwards that ive benefited from this and that my work has actually improved as a result

This past fall/winter, I went about 3-4 months without painting much of anything. Im a slump...and yeah, I didnt force it. I did other things like eat and cry...
But yeah, when Im in a good place and know that I have the creative energy I try to put myself in that zone so I can be more productive with my time.
Thanks for the great comment!!

I don't wait for 'the mood' either. I set the mood pretty much in the same way you do.
Why wait for inspiration when you can ' conjure it up'.
