Does anybody else think it's weird how dogs:

Only appear on special rounds

Attack in small waves of 2-4 (I think)

ARE DOGS, that are much more conscious than the zombies

And they do LESS damage.

I feel if anything they should do more.

I do something similar. I only use the pistol and gewher, but I have the whole team doing it. I have got to 30+ doing that and the game is very chaotic. Kind of negates the challenge if you have one player running around with guns because if he's good he can just carry the team.
