lets conclude at this fact.. ALL OF EM ARE either 4wd/awd... can we plz shut up and move on in life. btw the RAV4/ CRV/rougue/ escape is a part time 4wd (coming form a guy in the transport trades. -- and im not sure.. but im pretty confident.. that the RAV4 & santa fe ( i think) are the only vehicles that have LOCK SWITCH -- where it infact LOCKS THE DIFFS. -- ive went up boundry road (vancouver) on 10"snow.. beside me was forester.. coincidence? -- with 4lock -- i made it.. subaru didnt. :D

i'm assuming the purpose of this test is to show viewers that the subie can climb up the rollers w/o driver intervention? if so, i'd be interested to see the driver in the rogue engage the 4WD lock & disable VDC then attempt it again.

@blueb16 It would perform even worse. The Rogue's rear differential is open. With VDC off there is no way to shift power left and right. It would do nothing more than send all power on the rear axle to the wheel with no traction.

@SoDaSub that's incorrect. VDC does not shift power from left to right. That's called "torque vectoring" like the S-AWC in the outlander GT (front axle) or the Nissan Juke (rear axle). VDC brakes all the wheels independently. Locking the rear axle will enable the ECU to send 50% of the power equally to both rear wheels & disabling the VDC will allow both rear wheels to spin @ the same speed.

@blueb16 You are incorrect. VDC brakes on the slipping wheel causing power to flow to the only other outlet which is the other side. Turning VDC off and locking the center differential will do nothing more than cause 50% of the vehicles power to 100% exit through the slipping rear wheel because all of these vehicles have an open rear diff. The Rogue's 4WD lock is the center diff, not the rear differential. It's there to keep the Rogue from going FWD only (Not a concern in a Subaru)

Do this with an X-Drive ... yea i thought so you dont have the guts . Oh..Snap ..

@ReflexCap X-Drive is inferior to Subaru's Symmetrical AWD. No contest.
