"a wedding in death valley"

we're getting further from the sun
the skies are grey and the ground is heavy
my lips are laced with the taste of lead
the traffic is tired in my silent head
but I will not ride with the dead
I listen closely
for the fire in a voice
the passion played in a dreamy eye
the decent exposure of a naked truth
the flaming ember of a yearning youth
I feel the autumn rustling
through my veins and shaky knees
through bursts of blood and burning trees
our wedding song is spoken in verse
a holy charm against the blessed curse
a simple token from the halls of heaven
and in our hearts, a talisman
our souls are silent
to winter's calling
our eyes are wild
where love is falling
in the arms of a spotless stranger
sacrificed to a sacred whisper
bridging motion across the span
bare feet buried
in the Atlantic sand
and in our hands,
a holy land
