Yep, 6'1" is about average, but of course you have male models a couple inches shorter or taller.
Heck, male models nowadays are even 5'10" (claiming to be 6' wink wink) to about 6'2". Examples include Travis Fimmel, Luke Worrall, Oliver Cheshire all who have achieved great success in modeling.
It's all in the overall appeal of the male model, not just about height.
If you look tall in photo, and have that edginess and uniqueness desired, why not?
