  • That bird is barely a female, i can tell it is from the wings but that blue by the eyes puts it at borderline female lmaooooo

  • @CCentral if you really know parrotlets, you would know that ALL female lucida parrotlets look like her. Lucida is a subspecies of p'lets in which all females have light blue streaks.

  • Thanks for your comment! Lexi is a lucida female parrotlet- a subspecies of p'lets that have light blue streaks.

    From the parrotlet ranch:

There is one subspecies, the lucida Pacific parrotlet (Forpus coelestis lucida) where the females have blue rumps and eye streaks and, sometimes, wings although it is not as dark blue as the males. Males of this subspecies have silver gray backs and wings as well an eye streak that completely encircles the back of the head. This subspecies is found in Col

  • ADORABLE.!

i have a parrotlet, and i was wondering how you taught her this and how log it took.

  • @JennyNicole10 basically, just reinforced it by placing her next to the tap but not turning it on until she tapped it. since she was thirsty, she tapped it to show that she wanted it, and now we ONLY turn it on when she taps it. pretty easy :)

  • Cute little bird. Absolutely precious.

  • @TYMMCHN thank you!

  • very funny!

  • What a sweetie!

  • If your parrotlet has DARK (cobalt) blue on the wings and back, then it's a boy. If it's just a few streaks of LIGHT blue (like Lexi), then likely a girl.

  • @karebearvan

Great now I'm questioning if I have myself a boy or a girl parrotlet o.O I was told he's a boy.

  • @CCentral

I didn't notice the wings, when I saw the eyes I thought it was a boy.
