Soft Pastels are a medium that foxes many -- for this purest of pigmented mediums is often overlooked in favour of working with wet paints.

Yet, Artist & Author Paul Taggart describes the work he does with Soft Pastels, as 'painting' -- the difference simply being that rather than producing 'wet' strokes, he can effectively mimic the effects of scuffs, scumbles, blending and layering with 'dry' strokes.

IN LESSON 26 Paul works through the entire background fabric bringing yet more life to the tumbling folds of the luscious rich silk. Filmed in real-time you can follow the painterly qualities of every stroke of the pastel and blend of the wiper paper in close-up.

Now see how the previously applied strokes of black accents in Lesson 25 are brought into their own, forming the deepest of base colours against which overlaid colours of different values can work most effectively. Little tips and hints such as these are invaluable.

Watch the clear glass stoppers come to life, as the background folds, recesses and richness of the silk fabric is established through their rounded forms.

Once again the Lesson concludes with a sense of achievement, the next stage completed in this gradual build up of layer upon layer in this rich subject.

Using a traditional painting technique of layering through from dark to light, you will be able to watch this set of lessons -- which start at Lesson 20 - from the very first stroke to the very last at a close-up range. Even Paul doesn't get to see such close-ups as he demonstrates the art of painting.

You will learn much about light, about colours, about texture, about strokes, not to mention many, many more tips and hints -- explained in detail through Paul's running commentary. Which means you will learn much from this lesson alone, not to mention those that follow and have gone before.

Follow Paul's detailed demonstration and you will appreciate how Paul's enthusiasm for his craft comes through as he delights in sharing his knowledge - borne from the experience of a professional artist of some forty odd years standing.

You will be able to work along with Paul on this start-to-finish painting, filmed in real-time; with accompanying Equipment Focus, Topical Tips, Problem Solvers, Workshops, Step-by-Step Tutorials and more.

Although Paul is working from life -- you can work on the same subject by downloading a reference photograph of the subject, taken from his angle. To get your free download simply pop over to Paul Taggart's Google+ or FaceBook page and seek out the relevant album of photographs.
