And we are making a difference. Like all great movements, even nay sayers and sideliners get to take part in the achievements and sacrifices of us, the doers.
You remind of this guy I knew in college. He loved spouting all sorts of stats about how blacks are this and that. But he really knew nothing because stats only tells part of the story. I know my life is better than it would have been because people marched. Stop talking, do!
This is my last message you. You have the right to your opinion and the right to free speech, and the right to vote, et cetera. Dr. King died for those rights you thumb your silly nose at now.
here is a quick test for you dacna01, since 1970, show me where "marching" has helped fight injustice on a NATIONAL level. thats 37 years you have to work with. there is tons of research and data out there. so if you cant find data or stats to prove that "marching" has helped NATIONALLY in any major way in 37 YEARS, isnt it fair to say: YOUR METHOD DOESNT WORK? show me the stats or data, SINCE 1970, and ill reassess MY VIEW.
you cant change a system of injustice and brutality by "marching." police are STILL beating down innocent black men and women. prosecutors are STILL sentencing black children to overzealous time. your "marching" didnt CHANGE anything. look at the data, police brutality is UP. overzealous prosecutions is UP. so what changed? your method is flawed, and thats why the system doesnt take you serious, your means of "fighting back" is ineffective.
listen, dacna01, if your method worked, i'd be the first one supporting you and giving you props. but only an insane person repeats the same action expecting different results. the "results" of marching has not worked in america. (it gets you on CNN for five minutes, but thats all it does). you have been marching for over 60 years, some results-nothing. at some point you have to reassess your methods.
dacna01, you said "marching workd for Dr. KIng." this is where i have a problem with you. you are making statements WITHOUT evidence. all the data shows THE OPPOSITE of your argument. if marching worked so well with Dr. KING, who died in 1968, WHY ARE YALL STILL HAVING TO MARCH NOW, some 40 years later? it must not be working THAT well if you still having to "march." your method of fighting injustice is flawed, and the evidence shows this.
Stop trying to negate our efforts. Marching worked for Dr. King so I am gonna stick with what works. Let's be clear; racism is not a white/black thing; it's a human weekness. Did I go to New Orleans after Katrina? No. But I did send a donation for the recovery effort and to the tsunami victims.
also dacna01, it may make you "feel good" to say such things as "it makes a difference" but thats all it does. Show me the evidence or the data or the statistics that SHOW a difference. 2006 statistics show that police brutality on black women increased by 15 percent. so how has your "singing and dancing and holding up signs" changed things? i am merely suggesting that you change your METHOD of fighting injustice, because "marching" doesnt work--according to the data.
dacna01, i almost asked you where you were during katrina--but there were no music there to dance to, so that explains it. anyway, you still didnt answer my question. does your "holding signs and singing" stop the 13 black boy in cleaveland from getting 25 years for stealing a car? where is the data or evidence or statistics that show that "marching" makes a change? you have been marching for over 60 years--no change in racism and the racist sytem that destroys black communities?
And we are making a difference. Like all great movements, even nay sayers and sideliners get to take part in the achievements and sacrifices of us, the doers.
