This is an HOn3 Heisler built by Precision Scale Company. I'm not entirely sure when it was built, but it's modeled after West Side Lumber Company's Heisler #3. This would representing the first time the Pickering Lumber Corporation bought WSLCo in the 20's and had all the engines lettered "Pickering Lumber Corporation." When WSLCo reacquired the company, the had them all lettered back to "West Side Lumber Co." WSLCo's #3 heisler is now at Roaring Camp, in Felton, CA.

  • Wow! What company made this? I didn't know HOn3 made Heislers. Does the company make Shays as well?

  • They do make shays... but they're not cheap, and they're rather hard to find. There's 1 or 2 hiding around online that I've been able to find. HOn3 is the scale, and the company is Precision Scale Co, Inc.

  • Hmm interesting. I don't see too much HOn3. Thats pretty small. I hear and see more On3 and On30.

A run a narrow gauge G scale Heisler in my garden railroad. I'm running scale 1:20.3 on G scale track.

  • I've got an HOn3 shay comin' next week. Keep an eye out for a video, which I'm sure i'll have up soon after the engine arrives! It'll be a 3-truck shay, West Side Lumber Company #7, which is the one they now have at Roaring Camp, as is this heisler.

  • Fantastic. Congratulations.

  • I live near a place that has an old retired engine that's on display on the side of the road has the number 3 on it that looks exactly like that but it doesn't say the pickering lumber co. on it

  • My West side models west side #3, is over sized for a small Heisler. the Rivarossi machine is over sized for a large Heisler, and I believe they patterned it off of an early Pacific Fast Mail import

  • Holy shit, that is one B-E-A-UTIFUL Heisler my freind. Absolutely stunning!

  • @nelsonoidagain Is that the one that the Rivarossi hiesler is modeled after? They look identical. I know one brass hiesler is almost exactly the same as Riv's model just not sure who made it.

  • That is a fine looking model. I have a Westside Models westside #3 produced in the 70's, but it is over scale ( to allow the size of the motors available then) it came with standard gauge and narrow gauge trucks, and since it is big for 3 foot gauge, I have the standard gauge trucks under it,. I love that locomotive, not enough small Hon3 locomotives are easily available.

  • what an excellent running critter. I have an ancient Westside Models Westside #3 built in the 1970's, but it is grossly oversize. it came with HO standard and 3 foot gauge trucks. Mine has the standard gauge trucks on it, as it is too big for HOn3

  • Thats cool, I just happened to have a picture out on my table of the west side number 3 heisler when i stumbled on this video

  • Awsome. Roaring Camp #2 is my favorite logging engine.
