Is Baptism by sprinkling the only way to baptize? No so according to the Second Vatican Council. Check out this episode where Fr. Bill shows how to set up and do baptism by full immersion. Witness acutal examples of immersion baptisms celebrated this past Easter Vigil.

  • Don't they get whip lash from your immersion practice? Like you seem to dunk them pretty fast?. Why not pour water 3 times over the catacumens (not sure how its spelt, sorry), whilst they are in the pool?

  • @TheJazuma Pouring is another option for folks. When they are especially heavy, that is the preferred option.

  • Ah! I see what you are saying. I sometimes speak too quickly at Mass and the recording didn't pickup all my words. The word "of" is being said though not very loudly and likely too quickly. If I somehow don't say it, it is not due to any intention to be disobedient. I strive to do what the Church intends at all times.

Thanks for the clarification! I hope I've done the same.

  • Yeah, that's just great. Why not add some tropical fish? By the way, you refer Vatican II but don't pay any attention to the Catechism:

1240 "In the Latin Church this triple infusion is accompanied by the minister's words: "N., I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

It's NOT "In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit," as in the first baptism shown.

  • Just for clarification since it doesn't come out clearly in the video, I do say "...I baptize you..." as you quoted from the Catechism or are you referring to my added preposition "of" during the rite?

  • Great job Fr. Bill. I love how creative you are.

  • Hey, thanks! Please spread the word about these podcasts. I hope I can use it to offer ideas for church-tech things. -Fr. Bill

  • Thank you for a very practical how-to video. Liturgists constantly recommend this for Triduum but parishes don't because they get frustrated and confused by all the practicalities.

  • Interesting to see it being done in the traditional way by Catholics. I thought only the Church of the Brethren did the triple-immersion thing.

  • What is that name?

What is that single name shared by the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? That name is Jesus.

  • The correct way is by three immersions.

    An the correct words are.

"You are baptised in the name...." and not "I baptise you....

  • OH NO!!!! If he left out the word "of" the poor souls are all going to go to hell!!!!!!!

    WE NEED MORE "OF"!!!!

  • Do you believe that life starts at conception? Ron Paul believes that life starts at conception also. Ron Paul is running for president! Help him any way you can, please. Thanks to a large internet presence he has been able to stay in the race. Give hope to the young people of our country. Vote Ron Paul 2008! Check him out

  • I'm saying the correct form for the Sacrament is, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and OF the Son, and OF the Holy Spirit." It sounds like you say, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." If I'm wrong, I apologize.
