I came across a tool called "smcFanControl" which will let you control the two fans on your Macbook. In the video i'll show you how to get the app up and running, and the best settings for keeping your Mac cool and still have it run quietly.

My temperatures dropped from 65 degrees (idle) to 38 degrees, and the Macbook is no longer hot, hooray!

  • void warranty?

  • Thank you. Now things are much better.

  • @massieneal increase fan speed as your default setting in smc fan control. If you have a macbook pro it seems like the best setting as default is around 4000 maybe less if you dont run large applications or large numbers of applications at the same time

  • where is the heat coming from exactly?

  • U'r a lifesaver!!! The app worked right away! My mac was burning up to 75 degrees before I watched this video. Thanks again!
