Murray was taking the knives from the 202 Bladesmithing class and sanding them to shape. Time became an issue the last day of the class so to speed things along Murray did most of the handle shaping. John and I (the students) finished the handle off with hand sanding using 400 grit paper.

  • @MrBorges53 Gloves with a belt sander?! Are you nuts?! That's just asking for something to catch in the sander and tear off a finger. I was taught that you never use gloves for this kind of work; it's better to have a small patch of rug burn from bumping the sander than to lose an appendage. I would bet this guy has been working with these tools so long that he doesn't need to worry about bumping against the sanding belt.

  • You shoul use gloves to prevent accidents.

  • what is the suggested hp motor and rpms for plane irons 2 3/8 wide?

  • Dood... safety glasses.
