In October, 1983, Soupy Sales returned to Channel 5 New York to guest host Saturday Morning Live. With a twinkle in his eye, Soupy couldn't resist a bit of mischief aimed at the same station that suspended him from his popular kiddie show eighteen years earlier for a now-famous New Years Day ad-lib.

  • While working at WNBC, it would literally take Soupy about an hour to go from studio to limo, bacause of the people who stopped him to say hello. He was such a gracious man. He will live forever...

  • a little fun payback as soupy was a warm fun and friendly guy. i was walking on a sunny day in nyc in 1985 i think, and i recognized soupy from behind about 200 ft ahead of me.i caught up with him and he was as sweeet a person that you would ever meet.we walked about a block and a half, and people with cameras who recognized were snapping away.rip soupy, glad i got to meet you that beautiful summer day!

  • The audience EVEN KNEW when that coming up. We NYC TV Fans remember...ironically enough I wasn't around in 1965. But from what I have seen in clips about this...it's just as fresh as ever...LONG LIVE YA SOUP!

  • Well? That's one way to sock it to those damn jerks at

    WNEW TV Ch.5 in NYC.
