Base to Final Approach on runway 12 at Joliet Regional Airport.

I realize the VASI indicates a high approach, but I tend to fly above the glide slope because of the gas station 500 feet from the threshold.

  • @AAKaufmann, first plane i ever flew. Now i'm in 3674 and 80389

  • lol i hate that gas station too

  • haha i do the same thing over that gas station, i like having the runway made too!

  • Well great landing, i will explain to you why its beter to be on a higher glide slope when you are in a SE aircraft, like a cessna 150/152, containing an old carburator engine. It is a safe thing to do coming in slightly above the glide slope, say if you were to have an engine failure on final. In a twin on the other hand if one engine should fail you have an other one which could, take on the approach. In a 150 you have only one engine, so its airman ship to play it smart on glide path.
