WMP wont play music direct from folder.mp4

Recent build and Windows 7 installation. Windows Media Player wont play music direct from folder. A very annoying Windows Media Player problem.

All I am trying to do is navigate to an mp3 file and play it. WMP (version 12.0.7601.17514) wont play it. The message displayed is as if I have already finished playing the mp3 file. The message displayed is "Play all music" and "go to library" Fine I can do that and then use the library to play the mp3, but thats not the point. I simply want to be able to play the mp3 when I click on it. If I try to play or set default player to any other mp3 player, those media players will play the mp3 file as soon as I click on it, but Windows Media Player wont.

Nar it only when I use WMP to play anything from Libraries. No porblems with any other media player and no problems with WMP playing from folders. Libraries suck balls and I found a windows 7 hack that removes them completely.

it would be annoying, wanting something to work as simple as that, but small issues like this happen. I know its not the point, and you would rather the program do what its meant to do, but is there a reason you want to use WMP? and just not another media player as default? (I use VLC for everything).

there could be a few different reasons WMP isnt working. Have you tried playing other audio/video files with it and do you get the same result? have you tried updating WMP or re installing it?
