Sergeant Blaine Adams has served with Troop E for 23 years. He currently patrols Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, and Scott Counties.Sgt. Adams has made it his mission to keep drunk drivers off the roads.
"I've seen the death and destruction drunk drivers can cause, that's why we take them off the road," said Adams.

He has been honored a number of times for his efforts.
Most recently came an out of the blue request from an aide in the Governor's office..asking he make a trip to Jefferson City.
"I thought she said for a news conference," said Adams.
Instead, it was for the State of the State Address.
"I got a copy of the speech and saw he was going to mention me in the speech," said Adams.
Governor Jay Nixon said, "Sergeant Adams has made an amazing 1,060 DWI arrests, more than any other current member of the patrol."Adams said the Governor had to make a quick correction to his speech, as Trooper Adams made yet another arrest the night before.
"Can you imagine how many lives this one Trooper has saved", said Governor Nixon.
Sgt. Adams said, "It's not about the numbers. It's that drunk driver's kill people. That's why we arrest drunk drivers. Anytime you take one off the road it could be saving someone's life."
He says he's worked a number of accidents over the years where he's seen people killed by drunk drivers.
"Things like that stuck with you, you don't forget them," said Adams.
