I would argue that LaBrie sounds BETTER nowadays than he did back in the olden days. With age has come the maturity to know not to abuse his voice. He sounds much more consistent nowadays because he's not belting out high notes left right and center. He is also much clearer, all in all a much better singer. With the exception of Learning To Live, he doesn't seem to have pitch problems in recent times.
Young LaBrie (Album) > Current LaBrie (Live) > Current LaBrie (Album) > Young LaBrie (Live).

@MetaldoseAli he's the BEST! i'm worried.. now he can't hit these notes anymore..
-
I CAN'T BELIEVE HE HIT THOSE NOTES FLAWLESSLY LIVE! he sounded shaky in the beginning but, DAMN he exploded like a bomb hitting those holy notes!
-
give LaBrie a break, he's singing more than 3 hours of high pitched DT songs every other nights and is affected by jet lag all the time, but I'm sure he's trying to do his best

This are the "Real Dream Theater",the best team for ever!

labries voice is better in the studio album :/

@meryuin I do not know which one you are citing, this one is just not a high quality performance as most people seem to maintain here; and as I clarified in another comment, I'm referring to the poor performance of J. Labrie (I know there is a reason for that, but that doesn't make the performance any better, sorry)

@OneTakeJesus I'm mostly criticising Labrie here: just in the first verse of the song, the intonation is "sloppy" at least twice (on the 'I' of "find", and on "no" in "another reason").... And the rest of the song isn't any better....

@antoninosabetta Not really...
