The competitive imbalance which exists in the game today falls on the shoulders of the commissioner, players union, and owners. Everyone shares the blame for the clear inequity that large market franchises enjoy over their small market counterparts. Corrective measures have been taken and implemented under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), but fail to address the underlying problems. Local revenue sharing, Cable Company profits, lack of a salary cap, luxury tax, and the strength of the players union are five keys factors which are at the hear of the current inept system.
