With the authorship of Chartres remaining unknown, it would seem to belong to us all.

"All our songs will be silenced... What of it? Go on singing!" I saw the film some 30 years ago while in university, and to this very day, this passage and these words are still etched in my memory. Sublime!
I agree that the audio is not great, but please listen again. Welles is saying that -- for all of the depressing aspects of life and the fact that all of us and our loved ones will one day die -- we all have song, music, art, and spirit within us. So we should keep living life to the fullest and find beauty in life.
You're kidding ... No resonating stir of emotion or cognitive dissonance or cosmic outpouring ... no internal ideation of any sortl? Nothin'??? Just "I don't get it, 'wats' so fascinating about this? Jeez, better have your doctor check you for a heartbeat. And get your damn hearing checked out too!
how Orson loved the sound of his own voice !Babbling on any subject was indeed his forte...hence his popularity on the talk show circuit! a master of style over substance...listen to him for a while and you actually start believing he has something profound to say...fake indeed!
