http://www.sluhospital.com -- Dr. Richard Bucholz works with a multidisciplinary team of specialists to treat Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) patients with deep brain stimulation. Patients that are candidates for DBS are often at a point in their disease in which they no longer respond effectively to medication to control their symptoms. DBS is currently being studied to treat people that suffer from severe, chronic depression and epilepsy. The technology that allows the team to perform the surgery without an invasive stabilizing head frame was pioneered at SLU.

DBS can have a profound effect on the lives of people who have been suffering from movement disorder related symptoms for a long period of time.
