I was asked to write this for a weird little student film titled, "The Couch". Whoop.

Lyrics:
Are you content at all?
Cold and sweaty palms
Making your way down the same old hall
Too lost in yourself to say hello

Press buttons, up and down
Can't make me stop at the ground
'Cause I can't stand that mindless lull
How is life better drugged and dulled?

Why should I try to need you
When I don't anymore?
You always thought me beneath you
Now it's you on the floor

I don't feel any more real
Than I did before
Someone's waiting out there to see you
When I walk out the door

No one's immune, you know
Some things just can't be controlled
Some stories should never be told
I'm leaving, but I'm not going home

Why should I try to need you
When I don't anymore?
You always thought me beneath you
Now it's you on the floor

Why should I believe you
That there's anything more
Than degrees of self delusion?
You say you're sane
Oh, is that so?

  • I love this song, especially after knowing the context. ;-)
