@bnesh26 I believe it was for time reasons, to make the final version of the original program more suitable from the standpoint of US broadcast industry standards. This is by no means the first time I have seen this sort of thing, I might add!

My favorite! I have requested it for my funeral, when that time comes. It applies so well to my hubby & me.

Beautiful song , wonderful words sung by a gentleman that has truly been blessed with a special gift.

John is probably one of the only true Irish tenors...the other operatic tenors are grat too, but this man is a true Irish tenor who has captured the hearts of so many people...Thank you John...It's good to see you again even though on the internet....
One comment about this lovely performance: When the "Irish Tenors" special was first broadcast, there was an absolutely gorgeous flute interlude between the two verses. The interlude was later cut from both the broadcast and the DVD. It can still be heard, however, in the live audio recording on CD. I should also mention that--to my bitter disappointment!--the song has never been published in any form (this from John's own manager). How I wish they would change that!

@GlamRockCowboy -Hi there! I think you received some incorrect info, because I have ALL of JM's CDs. The live audio track is available on a CD titled "the Irish Tenors" (1999). John also released a studio recording of this song on his CD titled "Love Is a Voyage" (1995 & 2000). You should still be able to find them on Amazon and a few independent sellers. If not, get back in touch and I will help you.

The song was originally written by Johnny Duhan, this arrangement is by Bill Bridges and John McDermott.

I lost my Dad to Cancer a few months ago. This song was his & my mom's song. We played the Voyage at his funeral, and I don't think there was a dry eye in the church. Now when I'm missing him, I just play this video, and I feel a little closer to him. Thanks!

Hi Christine. You have our sincere sympathy over your loss. My wife and I both lost our fathers when we were young. McDermott has at least two other ballads that touch the hearts of those who have lost dear friends and family members - "One Small Star" and "The Old Man". If you haven't heard these before, I have them posted. Thanks for your comments. May the worst day of your future be better than the best day of your past.
