Im at a loss to state the least, do these activists obtain their information from marine biologists, the one's who proclaim to be educated to a degree sufficient to obtain information regarding fish stocks and populations? The ones who proclaim scientific information available to prolong and or ensure the survival of marine species? Why is it in N.C. Pretty humorous how fishermen in NC USA are unable to harvest a numerous amount of species with a hook and line but trawlers are protected by biological law. Even cast nets aren't listed as commercial fishing gear on commercial trip tickets( recorded landing forms). By the way, fishermen are still lawfully mandated to use a net size implemented by the FWC in FL USA which has a bycatch rate of 98%. The truth about bycatch is the majority of the problem resides in our fisheries management!

maybe if you unrealistic tree hugging wankers spent your money trying to work with the industry to improve methods and practices because we all like eating fish. to paint our hoki like that is disgracful to new zealand as it is one of the most sustainable fish stocks in the world and it was the japanesse and russian trawler working here before the quota system that nearly distroyed it. now every season there is more and more hoki so get @#!*ed

there are no dolphins or whales caught in new zealand in hoki nets or any other trawls in new zealand and the by catch in the hoki season is very minimal. im not going to disagree about the seals and birds but alot of time and money has been spent on prevention and results are showing the seals need to be killed off a bit anyway as they themselfs are over fishing coastlines where fishing boats are not allowed to fish . new zealand has a great fishing stock and a working quota system that works
