  • does porsche number their cylinders in that order? 1-2-3 on one bank and 4-5-6 on the other?

  • @THRILLA98 yes, they are refered to in that order. #1 is just behind the passenger, followed by 2 and then 3, with #4 behind the driver....5, and 6 to follow, of course

  • thank you kindly for the compliments! I was at the Stuttgart museum in 2000 (when it was very tiny), and it was really cool! but, i hear that it is really amazing these days! Either way, go! Bavaria is incredible.

  • Is it common in other engine configurations to have crankcase halves?

  • "boxer", or "flat" engines usually have two halves. other configurations like inline or "v" engines usually have only one single block.

  • no big deal but cyclinders are named by how they would be in an inline engine so thats actually 1 3 and 5
