I feel like if u right it down if theres a subject or not its not a freestyle... alot of artists even on their tracks talk about ramdon shit now days, so maybe back when story telling was in u could call writing random rhymes a freestyle. Hiphop is fucking dead anyways so who cares if these idiots write their rhymes or not... there are only a few true artists left, and lil wayne isnt.

to add to what big boi was saying freestyle is either spontaneous rap from off the top of your head OR it is free of style also known as free verse to poets. This version of freestyle is often not structured and it doesn't necessarily hold a focal point or objective in its lyrics aka rhyme without reason.
