The Phalangists got massacred by their less trained Muslim and Druze enemies in the first two years of the war, which prompted a Syrian intervention. The finest hour of these "fighters" was Sabra and Chatila. If they would dare challenge for instance Hezbollah, the war would be lost within two days.

@Elzz94 Yes they're as much phonecian as the Gemayel family who are proud of their assyrian heritage. The leader of the LF was not even Lebanese. Bachire Gemayel and Camile Chamoun were both Assyrian rats. They are originally from Antioch/Tur Abdin and when some assyrians later started to follow the way of syriac-orthodox monk S:t Marons way of christianity they weren't welcome anymore by the jacobites and got persecuted so they left Antioch and Tur Abdin and left for Syria and later Lebanon.
