Police charge on citizens demonstrating against hardening immigration policies. Some troublemakers are present, but the police choose to use truncheons on peaceful demonstrators. A sad sign of the times.

  • France as well as America is suffering from immigration. Although the police might have acted unfairly, one can't say France benefits from even more immigration then is already allowed.

  • France has one of the lowest immigration rates in Europe. France is suffering from how past immigration has been handled - by creating huge ghettoes - as well as from a strong dose of racism unfortunately. It would be impossible here for a black or Arab man to be a Presidential candidate for example. Immigration must be handled sensitively, because vulnerable people can feel threatened by it, but in reality if it's handled well, it usually energizes the economy, and creates a diverse society.

  • This is slightly off-topic but very important: While I was watching an interview with George Galloway, YouTube has shut down the entire "EvilGoblin" account. All the speeches, interviews and debates are gone, probably for good. Maybe it's time for another "Flushed down the YouTube" video? I think we shouldn't let the censoring bastards get away with this without at least voicing some sort of protest.

  • Thanks for this information. Do you have any idea why it might have been closed? They are entitled to close accounts if they infringe copyrights or for reasons of content. But it does seem they often close accounts simply because they don't like the opinions expressed there. But I'm not sure I'm the best person to make a video as I didn't know this user very well.

  • RealPoncho: I agree with everything you say here. I've put these points to YT and they never give you a straight answer, so I have no doubt you're right. We can only shout out loud about it and make sure everyone knows what's happening.

  • Last night, while I was watching the first part of an interview with George Galloway, YouTube deleted the "EvilGoblin" account. The 2nd part of the interview was no longer available when I clicked it. Bastards! I was so pissed-off about this that I posted my "censorship alarm message" not only here but on at least 20 other accounts. I'm sorry if some people regard this as spam. But I find these things deserve a bit of public outrage.

  • ... leaves in my opinion only one conclusion: YouTube are censoring political accounts that become too popular for their liking. Regarding George Galloway: I don't agree at all with his laissez-faire attitude towards fundamentalist religion but I'm d'accord with his political analysis of the US/UK foreign policy and its consequences. I also like his rhetorical skills. I think he's a gifted speaker.

  • ... as I see it, copyright is a convenient excuse for YouTube to censor things they don't like. After all, as can be seen in the treatment of Dennis Kucinich in Presidential primaries, there's a lot that Corporate America doesn't like. As with Anticonsumer before, the refusal to disclose which of the hundreds of videos were violating their terms of use and the radical step to suspend the entire account without warning ...

  • No, I have no Idea why YouTube have removed this large collection of talks, speeches, interviews and debates with George Galloway. I think that ultimately, anything that has been produced and broadcast by a TV or a radio station is copyrighted and can therefore not be republished without permission. If YouTube were consequent they'd probably have to remove half the content from their servers. But they are not and that's the point ...
