True love is seeing divinity in all people and things -- including your romantic partner, if you happen to have one. True love also means surrendering all of your guilt, grievances, and worries to the great Mystery from which you arose. Outward renunciation is not required to find this love. Many great saints have lived as householders. Human love is imperfect, but so is spending your life repressing and denying the wish to be with another. Desire will not go away merely by donning orange robes.

I have to say he's pretty much nailed what a relationship is all about. It's all about need and when they don't fulfill you anymore you want something else. Don't believe in the rest of the stuff though.

being "in love" is romanticised when it's plain and simple.
"in love" is a state of attachment. nothing more nothing less.
an attachment where you give each other more intense affection.
when you say you're "in love" it mean you're attached. you no longer can get through your days without the person, you're dependent. They don't text you for 24 hours, you're screwed.
when you "fall out of love" bollocks to that. you mean "i'm not attached to you anymore"
love is selfless, not needy.

He's just talking about the cliches that all people want in life is sex and materialism. That isn't what everyone wants, though I admit many people do.
True love can carry on after the material world. It isn't lost in death. It's not all about attraction, wants and needs. It doesn't disintegrate.
And what about love between a parent and a child? Love isn't always fake or needy or a business deal.
