i loved watching tatiana, but i still can remember how upset i was when she beat shannon...tatiana's vault did not compare...her legs were apart and slightly bent and her feet were not pointed the whole time...but i still love her, i just hink shannon deserved to win.

I love Gutsu so much to this day. Shes by far the best of all time. I have the games on VHS and I just watched it a week ago. I was 19 when I first saw it and now im 35. This brings back memories!

One more thing..I supported Tatiana and the Russian girls because they actually seemed like they loved and cared about each other. Their hugs and support for each other seemed 10x more authentic than the Americans'. I respected the sisterhood of the Russian team.

I'm an American (female) and was 19 in 1992. I loved watching that year's Olympics. For whatever reason, I rooted for Tatiana Gutsu over Shannon Miller. I do think Shannon had fewer bobbles overall, but Tatiana's moves struck me as more difficult. Another thing I liked about Tatiana was that she didn't seem pampered like Shannon. The latter had this doting coach around her at all times. Tatiana was like the tough girl who had to deal with shit on her own...lol.

Of all the things I did not expect to happen during those games, I did not expect to have my little boy heart drop-kicked by a pixie-esque Soviet gymnast I had never heard of before. But that's exactly what happened.

I felt like such a traitor for it, too.lol I only watched those games for Shannon Miller, and out of patriotism for my country. Yet, there I was, crushing on this pretty, blonde girl from the Ukraine.

Tatiana & Shannon put on a hell of a show. Both were deserving of gold.

At the time, I wanted Shannon Miller to win, but watching both their routines now, Gutsu's every event seemed way harder than Miller's

Assuming the scores were even going into the vault, Shannon is the AA gold medalist. Her first vault was a 10, period. And her second vault, if Shush had done it in 88, it would have been a 10 too. And as to the comment about nobody would remember Roza or talk about her if not for all the controversy - I would talk about her forever and never forget her, no matter what.
