It's E flat. You tune E down half a step thus making the 6th, not 5th, fret on that string a D. Same way as when you tune to drop D you tune the E down making the 7th fret a D. This is a good tutorial but I think on the strumming could be improved.

For the G chord on the first downstrokes I play the lowest thee/four strings (E, D, A, G) and just the three high strings on the rest of the stokes. Same with the C chord but also omit the E string. On the E chords I tend to leave out the e string.
