Riot or Revolution is a one hour documentary film about the Eureka Stockade, 1854. It was commissioned by ABC-TV (Australia) and screened on ABC1. The film tells the story of Eureka as you've never heard it before. It uses vivid eyewitness accounts to reveal the different passions and perspectives of some of the main protagonists in this great drama. Brian Lipson and Julia Zemiro lead a brilliant ensemble cast in performing colourful monologues that creatively use the documented words of the historical characters. Authoritative historians and writers including Prof Geoffrey Blainey, Tom Keneally and others provide insightful commentary. A magnificent musical score, dramatic recreations and the extensive use of colonial artworks all combine to breathe new life into the timeless and important legend of the Eureka Stockade.
