Royal Space Oddity (AMV)

An anime music video using David Bowie's classic "Space Oddity" and images from the Gainax classic "Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise." Both were inspired by Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey," so they fit together naturally.

If there was one thing that really made me want to watch Wings of Honneamise, it's this video.

The music is so perfect for the beautiful imagery I'm afraid the actual movie might let me down. :(

Thanks for the note, xpvrx! As for the weirdness of one guy smiling while saying something's wrong, hmm. I guess you are talking about 3:32 or maybe 3:46 specifically? The larger issue for me was that I didn't want to have one guy saying the whole thing, over and over. The smiling guy was the only other option I could find. As for 3:46, ending on a sort of smile, I justified it by the singer holding that one note like that. And lastly, some people smile under stress!

You made a tough choice with "Honneamise", since the space scenes only come at the end. But you pulled it off with the other footage.

I'm always happy to see someone honor this great animated film, one of the best animes ever made really.

This AMV is amazing. You know this AMV is godly, otherwise it would have ruined the song, which it didn't. Excellent job!

Oh, also anyone who enjoys anime, aircraft, space exploration, shady political dramas, underdog stories, great character development, or deep and complex relationshps and characters should watch this movie... it has some of the best of all of the above.

ok the real reason kids hate anime is its a fuckin weird ART that scares me thats why i hate anime anime isnt gay or stupid its just freaky so next time someone says its fuckin gay then refer what i said nice song but i hate anime
