  • @nandeable I'm chinese as well and i don't think the he or the film or book is painting chinese people in a negative light. if there's any criticism it's for the government at the time, and not about how chinese are inherently "bad" but lived in very trying times, with a very strict and authoritarian government.

  • Nicely done interview. I saw the movie, it was such an amazing story that I had to get the book to read all the details. Loved the book too! For those questioning his national pride, that's not the case at all. Two of his children speak Chinese and they have traveled back to China many times. He was so proud to attend the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The Chinese should be very proud of his achievement in ballet and the national pride he ironically brought to China as a world class ballet dancer, w
