Sophie Braslau, a contralto with a three-octave range, sang with the Metropolitan Opera for several years before becoming a touring concert artist. Braslau made her debut in Wagner's 'Parsifal,' and performed in Toscanini's revival of 'Carmen' and in Verdi's 'Requiem.'

  • She was rather beautiful too.

  • Most Victors from the teens play at 75 or 76.92 but I'm sure there are exceptions. Need a good ear to hear the difference although I've had complaints from a keen eared listener when I carelessly let my machine drift from 78.26 up to 79!.

  • I'm glad you like it Paul. I just found out that it could be just a bit fast. It appears that most Victors play a little slower around 76 and not 78. It sounds okay to me but not familiar with this song before I obtained this recording. One of my listeners pointed this out on another song.
